RSNO Plays Mendelssohn

Project type

Location Recording

Date

25/2/25 - 26/2/25

Role

Studio/Location Recording Assistant (Placement)

Location

Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock

This was my second location recording project with the RSNO audio team and this time we were recorded a small scale orchestra at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock! This project spanned across a couple days however this was mostly due to the setup schedule being in the evening a day before the concert. The setup was fairly short and only took us under 3 hours to prepare our microphones across the stage and ensure our DANTE network routing was fully operational, ready for the concert the following day. We returned the next day around 10am to finilse our setup by 12pm to record the rehearsal and shortly after, record concert and finally teardown our equipment. After we packed our equipment we travelled back to the RSNO centre to unload for around 5:30pm. While there is no full concert performance online, the RSNO have provided an insight video courtesy of Kellen Gray, the conductor of the orchestra for this performance to give a bit of a background into Mendelssohn and his music which you can find attached to this post!
