Sound Design - Alien Short Film

This project involved creating a soundscape for a short alien film, we were given the original video of the alien which had no audio, so we had to improvise and create our own soundscape for the film. I decided to take a cinematic approach, I was aiming to have the audio as accurate to the video events as possible. I used methods like Foley to accurately capture footsteps in time with the visual, I went off campus with a Zoom H2 recorder and a boom mic to capture plants, toilet flushes and flowing water. I also created some of my own sound effects, creating the alien language using human noises pitched up and heavily processed with EQ, chorus and reverb. To comply with copyright I ensured that my backing music was usable under Fair Use.
